The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN)'s Coordinator in the Kavango region, Thomas Shapi on Sunday ordered a recount in the Mukwe constituency after several political parties expressed their unhappiness over the counting process.
Polling officials allegedly claimed that they were done with the counting process by 11h00 this morning, something the ECN Coordinator disputed that it was impossible.
Shapi told Nampa during an interview on Sunday that he decided to order a recount so as to ensure that all political parties are satisfied.
The name of the dissatisfied political parties could not, however, be revealed.
There currently 19 polling stations in the whole of Mukwe constituency.
Meanwhile, Shapi indicated that the counting process in the whole region is progressing well, adding that three polling stations in the Kahenge constituency are done, while counting most polling stations in Ndiyona constituency are about to be completed.
There is no constituency in the region which has finished with the counting process by 13h00.
The region has 152 polling stations and nine returning officers.
